If you’re like many Hiring Managers, you may see recruitment as a necessary hassle. You have to find additional time for it in your already very busy work week, so you probably get that warm fuzzy feeling when you have finally finished recruiting and you have secured the candidate you really wanted.
At some time or another, you have probably also experienced the disappointment and frustration of losing that great new hire before they have even started. And to add insult to injury you now have to start all over again!
Candidates also experience that warm fuzzy feeling when they’re offered a position, but “buyer’s remorse” can sometimes follow. We are all human after all and we will think things over and revisit a decision, especially when there is time to do so, such as a resignation period.
Candidates will start to forget the positive things they like about you and your company, so keep your messages strong to show they are important to you. Get the paperwork out to them, give them a call to check in --don’t give your new hire any reason to reconsider their decision to join you.
